Meaning of Gayatri Mantra - Science of Creation

(A) Om bhur bhuvah swah:

Bhur the earth, bhuvah the planets (solar family), swah the Galaxy. We observe that when an ordinary fan with a speed of 900 RPM (rotations Per minute) moves, it makes noise. Then, one can imagine, what great noise would be created when the galaxies move with a speed of 20,000 miles per second.This is what this portion of the mantra explains that the sound produced due to the fast-moving earth, planets and galaxies is Om. The sound was heard during meditation by Rishi Vishvamitra, who mentioned it to other colleagues. All of them, then unanimously decided to call this sound Om the name of God, because this sound is available in all the three periods of time, hence it is set (permanent). Therefore, it was the first ever revolutionary idea to identify formless God with a specific title (form) called upadhi. Until that time, everybody recognized God as formless and nobody was prepared to accept this new idea. In the Gita also, it is said, "Omiti ekaksharam brahma" , meaning that the name of the Supreme is Om, which contains only one syllable (8/12). This sound Om heard during samadhi was called by all the seers nada-brahma a very great noise), but not a noise that is normally beyond a specific amplitude and limits of decibels suited to human hearing. Hence the rishis called this sound Udgith musical sound of the above, i.e., heaven.They also noticed that the infinite mass of galaxies moving with a velocity of 20,000 miles/second was generating a kinetic energy = 1/2 MV2 and this was balancing the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence they named it Pranavah, which means the body (vapu) or store house of energy (prana).

(B) Tat savitur varenyam:

Tat (God), savitur the sun (star), varenyam worthy of bowing or respect.
Once the form of a person along with the name is known to us, we may locate
the specific person. Hence the two titles (upadhi) provide the solid ground
to identify the formless God, Vishvamitra suggested.
He told us that we could know (realize) the unknowable formless God through the known factors,
viz., sound Om and light of suns (stars). A mathematician can solve an
equation x2+y2=4; if x=2; then y can be known and so on. An engineer can
measure the width of a river even by standing at the river bank just by drawing a triangle. So was the scientific method suggested by Vishvamitra in the mantra in the next portion as under:-

(C) Bhargo devasya dheemahi:

Bhargo the light, devasya of the deity, dheemahi we should meditate.
The rishi instructs us to meditate upon the available form (light of suns)
to discover the formless Creator (God). Also he wants us to do japa of the
word Om (this is understood in the Mantra). This is how the sage wants
us to proceed, but there is a great problem to realise it, as the human mind
is so shaky and restless that without the grace of the Supreme (Brahma) it cannot be controlled. Hence Vishvamitra suggests the way to pray Him as under:

(D) Dhiyo yo nah prachodayat:

Dhiyo (intellect), yo (he), nah (we all), prachodayat (guide to right Direction). O God! Deploy our intellect on the right path.

The earth (bhur), the planets (bhuvah), and the galaxies(swah) are moving at a very great velocity, the sound produced is Om, (the name of formless God).

That God (tat), who manifests Himself in the form of light of suns (savitur)
is worthy of bowing/respect(varenyam). We all, therefore, should meditate(dheemahi) upon the light (bhargo) of that deity (devasya) and also do chanting of Om. May He (yo) guide in right direction (prachodayat) our (nah)
intellect (dhiyo). So we notice that the important points hinted in the mantra are:-

1) The total kinetic energy generated by the movement galaxies acts as an umbrella and balances the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence it was named as the Pranavah (body of energy).

2) Realising the great importance of the syllable OM, the other later date religions adopted this word with a slight change in accent, viz., amen and
Ameen.

3) The God could be realised through the saguna (gross), upasana (method), i.e.,

a) by chanting the name of the supreme as OM and

b) by meditating upon the light emitted by stars (suns).

Slashdot reports that, Indian bloggers noticed that contents from few blogs being blocked by the ISPs. Looks like they are censoring the blogs based on few keywords. It might make sense, if they use such techniques to curb terrorism or porn or religious hatred, but I heard few bloggers complaining that blogs related to fight against reservation quota have been blocked. What the hell UPA govt is trying to do? F****** are trying to resort to all activities to suppress the anti reservation movement. Are we under monocratic rule?

All the bloggers have organised themselves into Bloggers collective and are planning to file a RTI (Right To Information) application to obtain the blocked list. Heard that RTI body is working fine. Hope we can get better information about the situation.

According to Microsoft PressPass, Bill Gates will be leaving his role at Microsoft in July 2008. He'll be staying with the company, but is also moving to a more fulltime position with the Gates Foundation. Effective July 2008 Bill Gates, chairman, will transition out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his global health and education work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The company announced a two-year transition process to ensure that there is a smooth and orderly transfer of Gates' daily responsibilities, and said that after July 2008 Gates would continue to serve as the company's chairman and an adviser on key development projects.' CTO Ray Ozzie will assume Gates' role of Chief Software Architect, and CTO Craig Mundie will also take on more leadership responsibility.

I guess its the time for all microsoft bashers, who doesnt like his business practices or OS, must realize that they dont have right to belittle him. I believe Bill, as one of the modern day humanitarians. This guy wants to quit his responsibilities, to share his smiles and wealth to the less fortunate. Supporting the discussions about google going to compete with microsoft's office suite, Google has released on-line spreadsheet system. You can share spreadsheets with other users and can chat while you're editing -- multiplayer spreadsheets! It can read both CSV and XLS formats. Right now, its released as limited test edition, invitations would be sent on first-come first-served basis for signed up users.
Recent services, Google notebook and calendar based on AJAX technology looks pretty cool.

The calculations are based on data and a basic ecological concept that have been around for decades, but no one had actually done the math.

"It's just never been done," said climate researcher Gidon Eshel of the University of Chicago. "The data is simply there to mine."

Rehman "Wake up" concert

Couple of days back, we have been to the Rehman's 'Indo American Cultural Exchange Charity Concert' with our expectations not set very high. They had Vasundara Daas apart from the master to add up the list. Still, I was excited to watch the man in action. ARR made a grand entry in white and in his shy voice, greeted everyone.

The concert went on with tunes from Rang De Basanthi, Yuva, Bombay, Zikhr from Bose and Takshak. Master looked youthful and he definitely had an attracting charisma in his face. He was performing on a synthesiser, and was also lending his voice for certain bits.

The best part of the show was the jubilant performance from the students studying at the American universities. Apart from the hands-on Indian music, they shared their voice and danced for both Hindi and Tamil songs. After 3 hrs of fantastic entertainment, the show ended up with fitting finale Vandemataram. Forgetting cultural and regional barriers, the show went on very lively and definitely memorable one.

Significance of Colors
Red
Lal or red suggest sensuality. But it also symbolizes purity. It actually rides a thin line between both. Red is worn at weddings. It is also the colour of sindhoor and tikkas . Red is about energy and passion. Goddesses Durga and Lakshmi wear red.

Yellow

Blue

Green indicates fertility. Especially in Maharashtra where it is a wedding colour. It is an earthy color. And a festive hue. A traditional colour and a colour of vitality. It suggests happiness and life. Green is a favourite too with Muslims and Parsis.

Saffron
Saffron is India's most favourite color. Our flag has a saffron band in it. Saffron is a very holy and sacred color. An auspicious color.

White
White represent tranquility. Purity too. Hence it is worn at different occasions to suggest purity. It is also associated with death and rebirth.

Black
Black is not a happy color in India. India does not like black. It is about evil and death. Or a penance. A black mark on a child's forehead keeps evil away. At certain occasions the superstitious do not wear black -- not at weddings or births or by the pregnant. Children are not meant to wear black.

Aryan Invasion - Hoax

I came across the article "Mile by Mile, India Paves a Smoother Road to Its Future". The article mentions that Aryan migration, Moghul conquest, British Colonialism shaped India's civilization over centuries.

The evidence of science concluded that there was no aryan invasion. I wish NYT needs to do lot of researching before publishing. Why do we still have this theory mentioned in history books and encyclopedias. About Aryan invasion theory - we can put it up as the one invented by Germans and popularized by British. Unfortunately, Indian education authorities continued to propagate this fantasy that divides our people. The theory originally devised by Max Muller in 1848, traces the history of Hinduism to the invasion of India's indigenous people by lighter skinned Aryans around 1500 B.C. Though there is tendency to treat Aryan-Dravidian division as a linguistic phenomenon, its roots are intentionally racial and political.

There are many theories put forth about the origins of Reddys. But none of them is conclusively proven. The word Reddy in particular refers to the Reddy dynasty that ruled in the region around present day Vijayawada, Guntur, Kurnool and Rajahmundry towns for nearly a hundred years (1328-1428). The Name "Reddy" originated as the head of a village appointed by the king as a rakshaka bata/rashta kuta (Police) to supervise the law and order of the village.

Reddys are believed to be an offshoot of the Rashtrakuta dynasty. After the decline of the Rashtrakuta dynasty, the ruling clan broke off and settled in North and South India. Rashtrakutas were a Rajput clan. The settlers in the north are called Rathods/Rathores, and ruled Marwar in western Rajasthan, while the southern settlers were called Reddys.They are generally Telugu-speaking farming community originally from the state of Andhra Pradesh, though there are considerable number of Reddys settled in the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Google print unveils collection of public domain books from libraries at University of Michigan, Harvard, Stanford, and the New York Public Library. Today Google Inc. officially announced the world's largest virtual library. The books which doesnt have copyright law (mostly books published prior to 1923 comes under this, like "The Seventh Regiment Rhode Island Volunteers in the Civil War", some other civil wars, history books) can be read at http://print.google.com. The books are fully searchable and users can individual images of the pages. Copyrighted books, they can just view very few pages after login to google, and they can buy the book from the links pointed.

One doubt arises is about the technology behind seperating all pages and scanning them, and I wish to share the info I got with you guys. Check out the paper published by Carnegie Mellon University which describes the system built for such purposes here. Scanning of old books is typically done with camera photographing a book lying in a cradle.

Do you like coffee? Do you like beer? Nestle comes up with new invention, Coffee beer - "that pours and foams like beer, but smells of strong coffee and packs a concentrated caffeine kick." As of now its going to be non-alcoholic beer.

"The beverage is made in a similar way to beer, but fine-tuned temperature control stops the formation of ethyl alcohol.Coffee beans are roasted normally, and the chemicals containing the natural aroma collected in a cryogenic condenser, before being converted into coffee oil. The remains of the roast are then ground to powder, mixed with yeast and sucrose, and fermented for 4 hours at just below 22°C. At this temperature the yeast can still metabolise but does not generate alcohol.The aroma oil is then mixed in with the liquid and nitrogen is injected to make it foam. Adding a touch of extra sugar also helps trap the aroma until the drink is poured, Nestlé claim."

Looks like google is going to launch a new service - Google Base, as a strategy to squeeze eBay, craigslist. As of now, the service keep going live and down. We need to wait to find out how cool it is, till atleast Google comes up with beta version.

The service appeared to be a classified advertising service that would allow users to post any of their items for sale and make it searchable online (ofcourse for free). You can describe any item you post with attributes. One can eventually guess, that based on relevance of items we post, they will get listed in Froogle or Google Local. Also, such free service from google will be supported by its ubiquitous adwords service.

Its time for me to keep away my fanticism, and post my view regarding campaigning by Chiru for Coke product, by authenticating it as 100% safe. Being a big guy in the state, he is misleading the people saying pukarlu ante naaku ishtam vundadhu (I dont like rumors) in the commercial, and challenging saying that "If any one can prove it authentically". It has been proved by Joint Parliamentary Committee scientifically that coke carries traces of pesticides, Phosphoric acid, carbonic acid and Caffeine. India has 6% of water resources serving 16% of world population
Cola firms pay 2.5 paise for 1 liter and how much we pay ???
Four liters of water needed for 1 liter of coke

Nothing against coke from my end, but in India - country with less resources, we need to fight against for future.

Trip to virginia

Last weekend I have been to North Carolina and Virginia to meet up my old buds. The trip was great and had loads of fun. Compared to the flat lands I am staying, North Carolina and Virginia are really good with good beaches, mountain drives. Fall colors are pretty good over there. We have been to Natural Bridge, one of the seven natural wonders in the world and Mountain Lake. As usual, I spent some time for dance floors.

"Vores Øl Group", a group of students at the IT-University in Copenhagen in collaboration with Superflex have created Our Beer under Creative Common License as an experiment in applying modern open source ideas and methods on a traditional real-world product (beer).

Ganesh Chaturdhi, also known as Vinayaka Chavithi, is a Hindu festival that falls on the fourth day of the sixth month (Bhadrapadam) of the Indian Lunar Calendar. On this day, Hindu families gather to pray to Lord Ganesha or Vinayaka, who is believed to be the remover of obstacles. A statue of the deity is installed in each household as well as a very large statue in every street. The deity is venerated for nine days, at the end of which the Ganesh/Vinayaka statues are immersed in a lake or other water body nearby.

It is prohibited to look at the moon on the night of Vinayaka Chaviti. Included in the customary rituals of this festival are offerings to Ganesh/Vinayaka of a wide variety of leaves, fruits and delicacies called "Kudumu" and "Undrallu."

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening
appeared; he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as
it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then
it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had
gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther.

Then the man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair
of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerged easily. But it had a swollen body
and small, shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected
that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be
able to support the body, which would contract in time.
Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its
life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings.
It never was able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was
that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the
butterfly to get through the tiny opening were nature's way of
forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so
that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom
from the cocoon.

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If
nature allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles,
it would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could
have been.

And we could never fly...

Which one will you choose

A group of children were playing near two railway
tracks, one still in use while the other disused. Only
one child played on the disused track, the rest on the
operational track. The train came, and you were just
beside the track interchange. You could make the train
change its course to the disused track and saved most
of the kids.

However, that would also mean the lone child playing
by the disused track would be sacrificed. Or would you
rather let the train go its way?

Let's take a pause to think what kind of decision we
could make................

Most people might choose to divert the course of the
train, and sacrifice only one child. You might think
the same way, I guess. Exactly, I thought the same way
initially because to save most of the children at the
expense of only one child was rational decision most
people would make, morally and emotionally.

But, have you ever thought that the child choosing to
play on the disused track had in fact made the right
decision to play at a safe place?

Nevertheless, he had to be sacrificed because of his
ignorant friends who chose to play where the danger
was. This kind of dilemma happens around us everyday.
In the office, community, in politics and especially
in a democratic society, the minority is often
sacrificed for the interest of the majority, no matter
how foolish or ignorant the majority are, and how
farsighted and knowledgeable the minority are.

The child who chose not to play with the rest on the
operational track was sidelined. And in the case he
was sacrificed, no one would shed a tear for him.

The person who wrote the story said he would not try
to change the course of the train because he believed
that the kids playing on the operational track should
have known very well that track was still in use, and
that they should have run away if they heard the
train's sirens.

If the train was diverted, that lone child would
definitely die because he never thought the train
could come over to that track! Moreover, that track
was not in use probably because it was not safe. If
the train was diverted to the track, we could put the
lives of all passengers on board at stake!

And in your attempt to save a few kids by sacrificing
one child, you might end up sacrificing hundreds of
people to save these few kids.

While we are all aware that life is full of tough
decisions that need to be made, we may not realize
that hasty decisions may not always be the right one.

On our way, dollar pitchers board dragged my attention and we changed our plans from Mexican restaurant to this bar. We have been served 6 glasses of beer for a dollar, cheapest deal right? But just now, I observed from slashdot that Microsoft included the patches for three security vulnerabilities on same day. Its not only just Microsoft, but also Mozilla released new security updates for firefox and thunderbird, apple fixed two tiger flaws, and Oracle also issued a critical database server update. Seems to be big day for security patches. more

Lesson One : An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing?" The eagle answered: "Sure, why not."So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Management Lesson - To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.

Lesson Two : A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to thetop of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got theenergy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enoughstrength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Management Lesson - Bull shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Lesson Three : A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the birdfroze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Management Lesson -

1. Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
2. Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
3. And when you're in deep shit, it's best to keep your mouth shut!

Prime Minister praised British Raj

I was shocked to read that Dr.Manmohan Singh praised the colonial rule. I agree that we are English speaking nation and gained tremendous advantage owing to colonial rule. Also out governing structure and education resembles the british rule. We certainly learnt from British and our democratic roots owe to the colonial rule. Another important aspect of British rule is unification of states to a nation. We cant say whether it is advantageous decision or not. With out British rule, India might have united as happened with US, or may ended up as loose federation of nation as Europe union.
In my opinion, person in Prime Minister stature should not make such statements. Contrast to the advantages we faces several atrocities from British rule and the coutry has been looted. The damage outweighs the benefits. We should not disrespect our freedom fighters calling the British Raj as good one.

DEVELOPED INDIA - Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam

“I have three visions for India.

In 3000 years of our history, people from all over the world have come and
invaded us, captured our lands, conquered our minds. From Alexander onwards.

The Greeks, the Turks, the Moguls, the Portuguese, the British, the French, the Dutch, all of them came and looted us, took over what was ours. Yet we have notdone this to any other nation. We have not conquered anyone. We have not grabbed their land, their culture, their history and tried to enforce our way of life on them.

Why? Because we respect the freedom of others. That is why my first vision is that of FREEDOM.

I believe that India got its first vision of this in 1857, when westarted the war of independence. It is this freedom that we must protect and

nurture and build on. If we are not free, no one will respect us.

My second vision for India is DEVELOPMENT.

For fifty years we have been a developing nation. It is time we see ourselves as a developed nation. We are among top 5 nations of the world in terms of GDP. We have 10 percent growth rate in most areas. Our poverty levels are falling. Our achievements are beingglobally recognized today. Yet we lack the self-confidence to see ourselves as a developed nation, self- reliant and self-assured. Isn’t this incorrect?

I have a THIRD vision.

India must stand up to the world. Because I believe that, unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. Only strength respects strength. We must bestrong not only as a military power but also as an economic power. Both must go

hand-in-hand. My good fortune was to have worked with three great minds. Dr. Vikram Sarabhai of the Dept. of space, Professor Satish Dhawan, who succeeded him and Dr.Brahm Prakash, father of nuclear material. I was lucky to have worked with all three of them closelyand consider this the great opportunity of my life.

I see four milestones in my career:

Twenty years I spent in ISRO. I was given the opportunity to be the project director for India’s first satellite launch vehicle, SLV3. The one that launched Rohini. These years played a very important role in my life of Scientist. After my ISRO years, I joined DRDO and got a chance to be the part of India’sguided missile program. It was my second bliss when Agni met its mission requirements in 1994.
The Dept. of Atomic Energy and DRDO had this tremendous partnership in the recent nuclear tests, on May 11 and 13. This was the third bliss.

The joy of participating with my team in these nuclear tests and proving to the world that India can make it, that we are no longer a developing nation but one of them. It made me feel very proud as an Indian. The fact that we have now developed for Agni a re-entry structure, for which we have developed this new material. A Very light material called carbon-carbon. One day an orthopedic surgeon from Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences visited my laboratory. He liftedthe material and found it so light that he took me to his hospital and showed me his patients. There were these little girls and boys with heavy metallic calipers weighing over three Kg. each, dragging their feet around. He said to me: Please remove the pain of my patients. In three weeks, we made these Floor reaction Orthosis 300-gram Calipers and took them to the orthopedic center. The children didn’t believe their eyes. From dragging around a three kg. Load on their legs, they could now move around! Their parents had tears in their eyes. That was my fourth bliss!

Why is the media here so negative? Why are we in India so embarrassed torecognize our own strengths, our achievements? We are such a great nation. We have so many amazing success stories but we refuse to acknowledge them.

Why?

We are the first in milk production.

We are number one in Remote sensing satellites.

We are the second largest producer of wheat.

We are the second largest producer of rice.

Look at Dr. Sudarshan, he has transferred the tribal village into a self-sustaining, self driving unit. There are millions of such achievements but our media is only obsessed in the bad news and failures and disasters.

I was in Tel Aviv once and I was reading the Israeli newspaper. It was the day after a lot of attacks and bombardments and deaths had taken place. The Hamas had struck. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture Of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert land into an orchid and a granary. It was this inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths, were inside in the newspaper, buried among other news..

In India we only read about death, sickness, terrorism, crime.

Why are we so NEGATIVE ?

Another question: Why are we, as a nation so obsessed with foreign things? We want foreign TVs, we want foreign shirts. We want foreign technology. Why this obsession with everything imported. Do we not realize that self-respect comes with self-reliance?.

I was in Hyderabad giving this lecture, when a 14 year old girl asked me for my autograph. I asked her what her goal in life is. She replied: I want to live in a developed India. For her, you and I will have to build this developed India. You must proclaim. India is not an under-developed nation; it is a highly developed nation..

Do you have 10 minutes? Allow me to come back with a vengeance. Got 10 minutes for your country? If yes, then read; otherwise, choice is yours..

YOU say that our government is inefficient..

YOU say that the municipality does not pick up the garbage..

YOU say that the phones don’t work, the railways are a joke, The airline is the worst in the world, mails never reach their destination..

YOU say that our country has been fed to the dogs and is the absolute pits..

What do YOU do about it?.

Take a person on his way to Singapore. Give him a name - YOURS. Give him a face - OURS. YOU walk out of the airport and you are at your International best.

In Singapore you don’t throw cigarette butts on the roads or eat in the stores.

YOU are as proud of their Underground Links as they are.

You pay $5 (approx. Rs.60) to drive through Orchard Road (equivalent of Mahim

Causeway or Pedder Road) between 5 PM and 8 PM. YOU comeback to the Parking lot to punch your parking ticket if you have over stayed in a restaurant or a shopping mall irrespective of your status identity..

In Singapore you don’t say anything, DO YOU? YOU wouldn’t dare to eat in public during Ramadan, in Dubai. YOU would not dare to go out without your head covered in Jeddah. YOU would not dare to buy an employee of the telephone exchange in London at 10 pounds (Rs.650) a month to, “see to it that my STD and ISD calls are billed to someone else.”

YOU would not dare to speed beyond 55 mph (88 km/h) in Washington and then tell the traffic cop, “Jaanta hai sala main kaun hoon (Do you know who I am?). I am so and so’s son. Take your two bucks and get lost.”

YOU wouldn’t chuck an empty coconut shell anywhere other than the garbage pail on the beaches in Australia and New Zealand.

Why don’t YOU spit Paan on the streets of Tokyo?.

Why don’t YOU use examination jockeys or buy fake certificates in Boston? We are still talking of the same YOU. YOU who can respect and conform to a foreign system in other countries but cannot in your own. You who will throw papers and cigarettes on the road the moment you touch Indian ground. If you can be an involved and appreciative citizen in an alien country, why cannot you be the same here in India?.

Once in an interview, the famous Ex-municipal commissioner of Bombay, Mr.Tinaikar, had a point to make. “Rich people’s dogs are walked on the streets to leave their affluent droppings all over the place,” he said. “And then the same people turn around to criticize and blame the authorities for inefficiency and dirty pavements. What do they expect the officers to do? Go down with a broom every time their dog feels the pressure in his bowels? In America every dog owner has to clean up after his pet has done the job. Same in Japan. Will the Indian citizen do that here?” .

He’s right. We go to thepolls to choose a government and after that forfeit all responsibility. We sit back wanting to be pampered and expect the government to do everything for us whilst our contribution is totally negative. We expect the government to clean up but we are not going to stop chucking garbage all over the place nor are we going to stop to pick a up a stray piece of paper and throw it in the bin. We expect the railways to provide clean bathrooms but we are not going to learn the proper use of bathrooms..

We want Indian Airlines and Air India to provide the best of food and toiletries but we are not going to stop pilfering at the least opportunity.

This applies even to the staff who is known not to pass on the service to the public. When it comes to burning social issues like those related to women, dowry, girl child and others, we make loud drawing room Protestations and continue to do the reverse at home. Our excuse? “It’s the whole system which has to change, how will it matter if I alone forego my sons’ rights to a dowry.”

So who’s going to change the system?.

What does a system consist of? Very conveniently for us it consists of our neighbors, other households, other cities, other communities and the government. But definitely not me and YOU. When it comes to us actually making a positive contribution to the system we lock ourselves along with our families into a safe cocoon and look into the distance at countries far away and wait for a Mr. Clean to come along & work miracles for us with a majestic sweep of his hand or we leave the country and run away..

Like lazy cowards hounded by our fears we run to America to bask in their glory and praise their system. When New York becomes insecure we run to England. When England experiences unemployment, we take the next flight out to the Gulf. When the Gulf is war struck, we demand to be rescued and brought home by the Indian government. Everybody is out to abuse and rape the country.

Nobody thinks of feeding the system. Our conscience is mortgaged to money.

Dear Indians, The article is highly thought inductive, calls for a great deal of introspection and pricks one’s conscience too....I am echoing J.F.Kennedy’s words to his fellow Americans to relate to Indians......

Yesterday night we have been to BW3 at Peoria. Slowly I started loving this ghost city, as I am left with no other option :). I have taken my friend to Dark Water movie, expecting a lot from the director of "Motorcycle Diaries" and the writer of "The Ring", in the end its a crap one, nothing horror in it, looks like a drama movie. With this choice, I lost the option of chosing my flick next time.

Why god chose to be Cosmic Dancer

When I gave up a promising career as a painter for pursuing classical dance, I was often asked which of the two was more satisfying - painting or dancing. My views on this are best expressed in Osho's words. Osho reflected on why Shiva as Nataraj was the Cosmic Dancer. Why wasn't he a painter, poet or sculptor? When a painter finishes his painting, the painting assumes its own existence. The painter becomes separate from his painting; it has a life of its own. Similarly, the poet is separate from his poetry, the potter from his pottery, the writer from his novel and so on. But with dance, the dancer and the dance are one; they can never be separated. That's why God is a dancer. He dances in his own creation. He is present in the leaves, flowers, rivers, animals and every human being. His dance is all over. He has not crea-ted the world, he is the world. The world is God's dance, just like a dancer's body is the canvas into which the dancer pours the colours of her feelings and impressions. more
